No way. Realdoll wins hands down. Some people b1tch about lack of portability and conceal-ability -- which the Fleshlight obviously has -- but they either haven't tried the Rucksack Anne mod or they're just weak. Rucksack Anne mod: remove remove legs and arms (ideally leave handle sized stumps) and place in LC2 large ruck. Voila!

I skydive. I want to begin BASE. But sometimes, you guys are so unfriendly and condescending that it makes me feel a little nervous that I would end up with your attitudes. This is the first post I have written on any of these forums, as I like to simply browse the beginner section and learn what I can. But these guys were asking a question (silly or not), and were met with contempt and sarcasm. Not everyone thinks to look these things up, some people like to go on forums and ask actual people questions. Why not just answer and stop being dicks abuot it? You make yourselves come across so badly, so unwelcoming. It's a shame. you make the sport look bad. And to the people that actually helped these guys out. You give me faith xx :)

Nah it's not only this post, obviously, it's just a general snootiness around the forum that seems kinda dickish. Im a dive instructor and it's the kind of attitude I see in new divemasters, I just think its lame. Picking on the easy people to pick on is extra lame. |

Sounds like these forums aren't for you. BASE is dangerous but the forums are way worse because the injuries are emotional rather than physical and thus take longer to heal.

Yeah you can't just stitch up those emotional wounds at home with Jon and a sewing needle! Kundah do more skydiving and less critiquing of anonymous faces on an internet forum about a sport you want to someday participate in. Just wanted to add that I think it's extremely sad you have to troll in an internet thread. I feel bad that this is as exciting as it gets! Good luck and find something to occupy that free time!

Mitch, I'll do whatever I frackin want, so you can keep your defensive and inane advice to yourself! That includes telling people i think they're being assholes if I think they're being assholes. What's more, don't for one second make the mistake of thinking I'm over sensitive. You're just being dicks. Thought you might appreciate the heads up, maybe be a little less unwelcoming to prospective new jumpers, but I guess you enjoy the superior vibes?! You all started somewhere. Peace, I'm done.

Im a dive instructor and it's the kind of attitude I see in new divemasters, I just think its lame. Picking on the easy people to pick on is extra lame. The first priority in any risk sport is survival--not just for the person doing it, but also for the sport. Like any risk sport, in BASE, a necessary part of keeping the sport alive is keeping people from killing themselves and one of the ways of doing that is to tell anyone who is casually thinking about BASE that it's *not* something to be approached casually. Sometimes that message is said in a civil way and sometimes it gets pretty harsh. A lot of how the message is communicated depends on the perceived attitude of the newbie. There are a shitload of experienced BASE jumpers who have gone to a lot of effort and personal risk to give back to the sport. That's how much of the knowledge has been passed along--by way of a sort of apprenticeship. There is rarely any reward for the experienced jumper other than the knowledge they are giving back and helping to save lives. Showing attitude, laziness, or a sense of entitlement to someone it that position does not get anyone anywhere. Look again at the forums. If a newbie has clearly done their homework and has done whatever it took to get ready to begin their BASE career, they are welcomed and treated with respect because they have shown respect by not wasting anyone's time. Lame? Maybe. But it is what it is. Walt

As a very old diving industry pro, don't compare the two sports. Folks I lead into scuba will probably never die in scuba. Folks I introduce to base most likely will see death up close. Apples and oranges. If you don't understand the difference, shhh. Be quiet for a while and watch some friends die.

WOW you are all just cementing my point, aren't you? Also, I'm not comparing the sports, silly. I'm comparing the 'cooler than thou' attitude that I have experienced in both areas.

You should hang out with some people outside of the interwebs, but then again, you'll have to watch them die I guess.
