I really didnt know there was so much to throwing yourself into oblivion!!!!!! i truly have a new found respect to all who jump!!!!!!!! so what are your thoughts... would be very grateful as need all the help i can get!!!!

Lots of factors go into those choices. Slider down you can jump from any height, you just dont want to take more than about a 3-4 second delay or things will start to get pretty painful. I usually dont pull my slider up until I get into the upper 400s. Ive been accidentally PCA'd from 160 ft slider up, and it worked out ok, but I really really wouldnt recommend it.

In reply to: i understand the basics for high objects slider up and for low objects slider down but am struggling to find the general restrictions.... So you don't understand the basics. The slider up/down situation is based upon jumper velocity at deployment time. Not the height of the object. As is PC choice. Find a mentor. Take care, space

Trying to find a mentor but its hard in Bournemouth as there doesn't seem to ne any one intrested in BASE. Like I said my knowledge is very limited and know I ha e a lot to learn, gettin my aff license is prob a good start!!!!! If anyone knows any BASE jumpers in or near Bournemouth I could meet for a cheeky pint would be good. Thanks for setting me straight.

Trying thinking of it in this way. In making a gear configuration decision you need to reverse engineer the jump. Let's look at an extreme example. If you have a 3000 ft. sheer wall but the only safe landing area is a mile away, and you are not jumping a wingsuit, then you had better do a *very* short delay. On the other hand, if there is a huge safe landing area at the base of the 3000 ft. sheer wall, you can do a very long delay. Pop quiz: what gear configuration would you lean toward for each scenario? Walt

This works usually great : ( from http://www.offheading.com/tabels.html ) ************************************************** BATMANS FUNCIONALITY ANALYSIS ************************************************** Is it jumpable -> Yes/No If No -> Wait til somebody jumps it If Yes -> Freefall/Assist If Assist -> Do a static, it's just a matter of time before someone frittfalls it If Frefall -> Pilot chute stowed/ handheld If Handheld -> Jump handheld, there will allways be somebody that stows it If Stowed -> Slider up/down If Slider down-> Just go on jumping, there will come time when somebody pulls up the slider... ***************************************************

If you talk like you write, you have got to be even more annoying in person... Do have to put 20 exclamation points behind everything you say?????????????????? Chill out a little man. No one is going to want to mentor someone that can't shut up for a few minutes. Get some skydives, people will take you more seriously. Right now your just blabbing on about jumping and acting like your part of the sport because you post on a fucking website. And, all your questions should be posted in the beginner forum. This is not a technical question. This a question of someone who knows nothing about parachutes= a beginner. Good for you for asking, keep asking questions. Moderator! Please move this thread...

If you haven't got your "AFF license" that suggests you haven't spent much, if any, time at any DZs. So where have you been looking for BASE jumpers? Wandering round the city with a billboard? Asking in random pubs? If you want to find monkeys you go to the zoo. If you want to find BASE jumpers...
