Powered Paraglider Jumps and pick ups for Charity Can't Post

We just received word that our long awaited custom iGoBig.org tandem powered paraglider wing will be delivered next week. Once we receive the wing we will begin to make low altitude skydives (yes its legal) from the PPG using BASE rigs to promote the non profit social network, iGoBig.org. To get the BASE jumping community involved we will let experienced jumpers (50 jumps minimum and or with references) make jumps out of the Powered Para glider by signing a waiver and making a donation to iGoBig.org. We have yet to determine whats an appropriate amount to charge jumpers but have the following numbers in mind.

1 jump 35 dollar donation (2k Alt and below, higher alts extra)
All day use for you and as many of your buddies for $250/day (2 day minimum)

all donations (minus gas and traveling expenses) will be used to buy and donate iPads to Public Schools in the areas where we receive the most Donations. We have filed for 501 c3 status so your donation maybe tax deductable.

We will make the iPad donations annually at Public schools every September. We encourage you to check out iGobig.org and create a free account. We may be willing to offer discounts to jumpers that post their footage on the social network. We have many similar features to Facebook including photo tagging and iPad App that's in it's Final stage of development. Further the PPG can be used for extraction, ie in places like little Colorado (same rates apply)

Our first summer Goal is to raise enough money to donate 20 iPads to Public Schools

If this is something that interests you please PM directly. The fun will begin May 1st and continue through September.

cool to do a jump like that I'd love to if the opportunity was there

also why not let people with fewer or no base jumps do it? it doesnt seem very technically demanding. From 2k its a skydive with base gear at that point so its all good I'd think.

You guys considered a cross-country road trip with that thing? Just hit major drop zones on the way across and you'd probably make quite a bit for charity =)

I'm not biased because I'm in Alabama CrazyTongue

In a perfect world you are right! But we are Putting ourselves out there to perfect strangers, so there are exceptions to every rule but we need to draw the line somewhere! If your interested get some of your friends together and I'm sure we could make down there. Also based on weather we may not be able to go up to 2grand every time! Since its to raise money the last thing we want to do is get someone injured or killed, we would like to do this every summer and maybe get a second glider next summer!

That's basically the plan, been getting tons of P.M.s already! If you think people at your DZ would be interested let us know! We are trying to lay out a road map, and will have a calander up in about a month! If your pro active with friends that want to huck to we will be there! Basically 2 to 2.5 days will buy the school an iPad. Let them through us under the bus for raising money for kids! It's a win win as far as I'm concerned. You get to huck and the kids get a valuable learning tool and our non profit gets recognized!

Shocked
I've never seen any worst thing in education than buying iPads to young people !
Would you give some deep-frozen square-fish to students in a fishing school ?

If you want them to become curious, learn about how things works, buy them some "open" computers on witch they can play with different operating systems, programs and try to figure out how and why it works ! not a proprietary-closed-box with an apple-only environment ...

ipads ... pffffff .... poor next generation ...

Sorry for the "off topic" message

MontBlanc,
Thank You for taking the time to read my Post. You have valid points about the Apple product. Our goal, however, as a social network isn't to teach kids about computers. It is to teach Kids about "responsible" social networking. We have devised a social network that enhances its users lives while supporting public education at the same time. Something Facebook doesn't do. Many schools here in the U.S. have computer classes to teach them the various operating systems, thats not what we are about. Before you BASH our efforts further, please take the time to read up on iGoBig.org and P.M. me with any questions. The jumps from the PPG is my own personal way (as a BASE jumper of 9 years) to get BASE jumpers involved in a fundraiser that is benifical to all. Our little PPG tour is more to raise public awareness that a social network should take care of its users and potential users (ie school kids). We hope that you will support iGoBig and may one day want to jump with us.

Take care

Goinin

Igobig.org looks like a scam. So the more "friends" I have on there you will pay me money or throw some type of party?

Also Ipads are a joke and nothing more than a device to play little games on or share pictures. If you want to help kids out at schools buy them some books or donate money to children who can't afford food.

From a few iPad 2 cases that I reviewed, I'd pick the Acase Multifunction Litchi Grain Slim Leather Case. Screenshot: Posted Image ... [URL=http://www.witrigs.com/the-new-ipad-cases]best new ipad case
