Ok, I know this is not cool, but I still had to smile a bit when I watched the vid.
And to his credits, at least he was wearing an altimeter Smile

Edit to correct: It's probably not an altimeter but a gopro - which is even more important than an altimeter! never jump without a gopro!

that was a very honest exchange between two people whose purposes in life are diametrically opposed.

that opposition (friendly here) demonstrates the lack of a middle ground. without people willing to compromise, don't expect the NPS system to open up (and remain open) anytime soon.
Unsure

Agreed, i'd say the officer appeared more willing to compromise, as he indicated the jumper would not be arrested as long as he stepped down...

A cop once told me that he could lie, so this officer's promise may not be sincere. (His body language looked like he did not want to deal with the paperwork.)

that was great. he was probably going to get a public intoxication charge and a trespassing charge if he stepped down. so what did he get charged with after jumping? Evading arrest?

This is very true, you can't believe anything the police tell you. The police can legally lie to you, and it happens all the time!

I met Jester with Dennis and his crew in 1988. It is good to see he is still alive and kicking. Not many of his caliber still alive or still jumping. Those guys was rebels back then, and it seems nothing have changed since then.

yeah, he's running from the cops knowing he's going to be arrested so he goes ahead and does some shop lifting, some lude and lascivious behavior, and feels up some women. add public urination too!

I spent a night with them in Tampa, and there was some police involved, a wet jumper who landed between a sub marine and the dock, and 2 jumpers on run from the police :-) Quite interesting for a 19 year old Norwegian with one antenna jump in the log.

This thread is pretty good and all, but needs more bickering. I'm going back to Dropzone.com

You are correct. They can lie to you all day... It's not what they say, it's what they do.

Up until he climbed onto the rail and jumped, he was not doing anything he wasn't allowed to do.
