Hi All, New to Base, just wondering what the safest lowest height for base would be? Is 20 storey building high enough? This may sound a little stupid but had to ask. Thoughts anyone. Andrew

If you are asking a question like that you should not be jumping it.... btw, don't rely on the number of stories in a building to determine if it is jumpable. They are huge discrepancies in floor heights.

Jumped the object after I lasered it. It was 23 storey's high. 250 feet. Had a good landing. Another question though, Had a tree landing the other day and was just wondering if algae is bad for lines? And what is the best way to clean them, or do I just forget about it and keep jumping? Andrew

Andrew Algae?? from a tree To clean your lines you could use a damp soapy cloth but do not get them wet....only clean the surface grime gently and then dry them in room temperature. if they are that messed up it would be wise to seek the advice of a qualified rigger........

Andrew Stalled her right into the trees eh?! Is it me or are you just kind of winging it with no guidance whatsoever? Dave

Winging it? I have done an FJC and grew up with a lot of experienced base jumpers in australia and did a lot of ground crewing for them. It was just bad luck that I happened to end up in the tree, the canopy clipped the edge of it.

Nope, lack of skill according to video. Nice canopy work! Your launch was shit for the object, you were counting like it was your first skydive and your canopy flight was either not thought out or piss poor. Congrats on your 1st jump course....ask for a refund. PS I am totally understanding why people have short fuses with new many new jumpers here............ FUCK ME!!

Ok I admit I get a little sarcastic when I get back from the bar and post shit I don't remember posting. Nice to see I can still spell in that condition Andrew, sorry for a being a bit of a dick! That being said, why not try approaching it with more preperation?! I know that trestle, I spend lots of time on the Island and it is not a forgiving object at all. You would have had more canopy time without the huge head down launch. With a static line try dropping off a lot more head high as then you won't get that pendulum effect eating altitude up. Are your deep brakes tuned in? Did you use deep brakes or shallow? Why not go to the mainland and jump the AF span a bunch of times? Get dialed in there. Figure how much you can turn your canopy before the ground comes up to smite thee. There are no big trees in the LZ, it is possible to hit a tree there but you would have to try. Go slow, the objects are not going anywhere. There is a lot to learn with this BASE stuff. It's good that you took a FJC but the learning doesn't end there it just begins. Do you have an experienced person around to bounce stuff off? To be there and point out things that just might matter? Do you honestly think that taking a FJC means you are good to go on whatever? Believe it or not, I actually give a shit.............
