Calvin19 and Annibal: A Family Affair - 2009-09-25 by Cynthia Lynn updated

Calvin19 and Annibal: A Family Affair Bill Waterson’s Calvin and Hobbes comic strip was introduce to the public in 1985, a year prior Matthew “Calvin” Hecker made his debut on this planet. Now a strong argument can be made that Calvin19, as he is known on the forum, was mistakenly left here by the Mothership and they will be returning soon to claim him. Adding to this argument are fellow BASE jumpers commenting, “That dude does some crazy shit”; a statement that lures you into thinking “this is someone that I have to meet.”

Hank Caylor: The Man, The Myth, and The Legend "Whuffo you jump out of them airplanes?" a question that could be asked of Hank Caylor on his birthday at the age of 16 when he completed his first skydive. At that point Hank was already a 5.12 rock climber and held a degree of popularity at his high school for his entrepreneurial skills in pharmaceutical sales. When I questioned him in regards to his popularity he is quick to point out that he also “wore spandex tights to school that made me very popular in a freaky way.”

Life on the Edge with Chris 'douggs' McDougall - 2010-05-30 by Cynthia Lynn new

Life on the Edge with Chris 'douggs' McDougall "Either you will be given something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly-", I am not certain that Edward Teller would have ever dreamed to equate his poetry with BASE jumping or even in beating your fears with the absence of faith. Chris 'douggs' McDougall may not believe in religion, but he surely has plenty of faith in himself and those around him.

Lonnie Bissonnette Interview: What Lies Within Us - 2010-07-27 by Cynthia Lynn new

Lonnie Bissonnette Interview: What Lies Within Us I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Canadian BASE jumper, Lonnie Bissonnette, and although he will state infuriatingly that he is not an inspiration and grumble that he “hates” that word. The fact remains that Mr. Bissonnette life story is an inspiration to many jumpers and non-jumpers alike; not because he still jumps today following his 2004 accident which left him a paraplegic, but rather his undying passion for the “big picture”.

The Self-Proclaimed Ambassador of BASE: Miles D - 2013-01-24 by Cynthia Lynn new

Miles greatest strength as a jumper, “Quick reaction time coupled with serious mental training of identifying and reacting quickly to changing circumstances and situations. Also I’d have to say that I’ve seen a lot, by experience and watching game footage of others, so I’m good at identifying things as they begin to go bad and correct them quickly to stay on track and have the perfect landing or at least a nice one almost every time.”

At the signal, they jump and race head-on to the finish line, deploying their parachutes and gliding to a safe landing. Mind blowing? Extraordinary?
